The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research is one of the nation's leading health policy research centers and the premier source of health policy information for California. Established in 1994, the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research is based in the School of Public Health and affiliated with the Luskin School of Public Affairs.

The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research improves the public’s health by advancing health policy through research, public service, community partnership, and education. 

The Center conducts research on a variety of national, state and local health policy issues, including:

• Economics of health care
• Health insurance coverage
• Access to, and quality of, care
• Prevention of chronic illness
• Racial and social disparities in health care access and health status
• Children’s health
• Women’s health
• Senior health
• American Indian/Alaska Native health
• Enhancing the health of communities
• Survey methodology

The Center provides topic-specific exercise through such programs as the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), Health DATA, and the Health Economics and Evaluation Research (HEER) Program.
