Current Scholars and Affiliates

During the 2013-14 academic year the Department of Urban Planning is hosting:

Twelve managers and senior staff from the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD) in Beijing and one from the Chengdu Institute of Planning and Design (CDIPD). As research affiliates they will attend courses and acquire training in physical planning and urban design during the 2013-14 academic year.

Cindy Tingting Chen, a Visiting Graduate Researcher from the Department of Building and Real Estate at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, is conducting research on Job-Housing Balance and Residential Mobility of Social Housing Residents in China: the Case of Guangzhou, during the Fall quarter under the sponsorship of Professor Paavo Monkkonen.

Suwei Feng, a Visiting Scholar from the Department of Public Administration at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, will conduct research on the theoritical and policy evaluations of congestion pricing and affordable housing, under the sponsorship of Professor Rui Wang during the 2014 calendar year.

Rui Li Visiting Scholar from the School of Urban Design at Wuhan University will conduct research on spatial development of small cities and towns, during the 2013-14 academic year, under the faculty sponsorship of Professor Randy Crane. 

Zhaoxin Liu will finish up a one year visit as a Visiting Scholar from the School of Public Administration at Zhangzhou University.  His is conducting research on spatial justice of urbanization in contemporary China under the sponsorship of Professor Edward Soja.

Inmaculada Mohino a Visiting Graduate Researcher from the School of Architecture at the University of Castilla La Mancha will be at UCLA during the Fall quarter conducting an analysis of peripheral high speed rail station in Los Angeles under the sponsorship of Professor Anastasia Loukaitou-Sideris.

Maria Francesca Piazzoni  a student in the International Ph.D. Program QuoD, Quality of Design, at the University of Architecture of Venice Italy  will be here in the Fall and Winter as a Visiting Graduate Researcher conducting dissertation research with Professor Anastasia Loukaitou-Sideris.

Lin Shao a Visiting Graduate Researcher from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University in Shanghai, will be at UCLA for the full 2013-14 academic year conducting research on Chinese urbanization and public service delivery, under the sponsorship of Professor Rui Wang.
