During the 2012-13 academic year the Department of Urban Planning is hosting:

Five managers and senior staff from the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD) in Beijing and one from the Chengdu Institute of Planning and Design (CDIPD). As research affiliates they will attend courses and acquire training in physical planning and urban design during the 2012-13 academic year.

Jean Frederic Lassara, a visiting fellow from the Institut d'Amenagement et d'Urbanisme in Paris is conducting research on integration of cloud computing by companies in the United States.  He is here during the Fall quarter under the sponsorship of Professor Leo Estrada.

Jun Ho Jeong, an Assistant Professor at Kangwon National University is a Visiting Scholar during the Fall, Winter and Spring under the sponsorship of Professor Lois Takahashi.  He is conducting research on the interaction between bank lending and housing prices in Korea with special attention to the impact of the 1998 financial crisis on the financial system in Korea. 

Runqiu Liu is a professor of Public Administration from Sichuan University in China is conducting research as a Visiting Scholar under the sponsorship of Professor Vinit Mukhija during the Fall, Winter and Spring.  Her research project is on land system innovation in the transformation of agriculture in China. 

Bindong Sun, Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Economics and the Center for Modern Chinese City Studies at East China Normal University in Shanghai is a Visiting Scholar during the Fall, Winter and Spring under the sponsorship of Professor Rui Wang.  His research is on the relationship between land use and transportation. 

Zhaoxin Liu from the School of Public Administration at Zhengzhou University in China will conduct research during the Winter, Spring and following Fall as a Visiting Scholar under the sponsorship of Professor Edward Soja.  His research project is on spatial justice of urbanization in contemporary China

Michael Thyrrestrup Pedersen a doctoral student at Aalborg University in Denmark will conduct research as a Visiting Graduate Researcher on the creation of a polycentric network of small cities cooperating to advance culture industries during the Winter and Spring under the sponsorship of Professor Edward Soja

Maria Francesca Piazzoni  a student in the International Ph.D. Program QuoD, Quality of Design, at the University of Architecture of Venice Italy  will be here in the Spring as a Visiting Graduate Researcher conducting dissertation research with Professor Anastasia Loukaitou-Sideris.

Fernando Mesquita, a student in the doctoral program in the Department of Geography at the Institute of Geosciences, University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, is visiting during the Winter and Spring Quarters, conducting research on the biofuels industry and regional development in Brazil under the sponsorship of Professor Michael Storper.
