To be considered for extramural funding, students must apply directly to the funding organization. Most college libraries or financial support offices keep listings of available grants or fellowships.
The UCLA Graduate Special Fellowships Office maintains the UCLA Graduate and Postdoctorate Extramural Support (GRAPES) database. GRAPES catalogs major fellowships for which announcements have been received in the Graduate Division's Special Fellowships Office. GRAPES contains information on approximately 400 scholarships, fellowships, internships, and awards for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program: students planning to study Transportation at UCLA should consider applying for an Eisenhower fellowship. It offers a minimum of two years of funding, and the funding packages are very generous. Applicants to the Urban Planning program should apply for this fellowship even if they have not yet received an admissions decision from UCLA.
