The Senior Fellows Program is the premier leadership career training program of the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Established in 1997, the program features policy, public service and community leaders who act as role models to lead UCLA Luskin students to careers in the public interest.

Senior Fellows represent a wide variety of policy interests – education, immigration, health care, transportation, political leadership, youth, the environment, national and international security, economic development, and an aging U.S. and world population. They represent all political viewpoints and many social backgrounds, and contribute their time and expertise through the professional mentorship of two to three current graduate students. Fellows also participate in School-wide conferences, provide policy briefings, facilitate leadership seminars, and act as classroom guest speakers.

Policy Briefings, led by one or a panel of Fellows, are topical symposiums on policy issues in the Fellows’ area of expertise.

National and regionally based Fellows enable students to participate in career site visits at the Fellow’s place of employment.

The On Leadership series features small seminars in which Fellows and students engage in discussion on leadership style, preparation, and effectiveness.

Students participating in the Senior Fellows Mentor Program gain invaluable career guidance and shadow their Fellows at their work site.
