Did you know that there are currently three students earning dual UCLA Luskin degrees in Public Policy and Social Welfare? While there are others who are earning dual degrees between Luskin and other UCLA departments, this segment of "UCLA Luskin: Did You Know?" focuses on those who are working double duty inside the School of Public Affairs.

Public Policy student Asma Men recently went to Seattle to participate in an elite panel. This is her first person account of the adventure.“What do you think about being on a panel for an upcoming Asian and Pacific Islander symposium in Seattle?” asked Professor Paul Ong from UCLA Luskin's Urban Planning Department. I wanted to jump out of excitement, but told myself to remain calm and professional as I answered him, “Sure. What is it about?”  I was still in disbelief.

By Ramin RajaiiUCLA Luskin Student WriterCharisma Acey MPP '98 UP Ph.D. '09 has been hard at work putting her knowledge to the test.After being one of the first people to graduate from UCLA’s public policy program, Acey was posted to Zimbabwe as part of Catholic Relief Services, an official international humanitarian agency in the U.S. During her stay, she was involved primarily in development work, specifically that of human rights programming, micro financing and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
