Professors and Alumna Selected for Social Work Hall of Distinction

The California Social Welfare Archives (CSWA) works to recognize top leaders in the field of social work each year with the California Social Work Hall of Distinction honor. This year’s Hall of Distinction recipients include three Luskin alumni and faculty: Dr. Fernando M. Torres-Gil (professor of Social Welfare and Public Policy and Director of the Center for Policy Research on Aging), Dr. Alex J. Norman (professor emeritus), and Dr. Marilyn Montenegro (MSW ‘71). The induction ceremony will take place at the annual National Association of Social Workers conference on October 25, 2014 in Burbank, CA.

Other past Luskin-affiliated honorees include:

Celeste Kaplan (M.A. Social Welfare '54)

Harry Kitano (former faculty)

Nathan Cohen (former faculty, launched Ph.D. program, served as dean of School of Social Welfare)

Jeanne M. Giovannoni (former faculty, wrote landmark book with Rosina Becerra)

Al Feldman (former faculty)

Tessie Cleveland (former faculty)

Chauncey Alexander (alumni)

Patricia Pickford (MSW '50s)
