ACADEMIC COORDINATOR

POSITION: CalSWEC Coordinator is eligible for appointment to the Academic Coordinator Series.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for the management and coordination of the CalSWEC Title IV-E program.  Supervising two CalSWEC Field Education Consultants and an Administrative Analyst. Responsible for budget preparation, modification, and the monitoring of spending for this $1.2 million program. Develops curriculum, teaches in both classroom and field. Assures compliance with UC Berkeley CalSWEC policy and procedures. Creates enrichment opportunities for CalSWEC students and Field Instructors.

Reports to the Department Chair as Principal Investigator of this project and to the Director of Field Education.

REQUIREMENTS: MSW required. LCSW preferred.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5 years specific experience in the area of public child welfare
• Knowledge and experience with CalSWEC Program
• Overall 10 years increasingly responsible position in child welfare administration.
• Experience in providing field instruction
• Experience in teaching graduate level social work students in a classroom setting

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:
The CalSWEC Coordinator possesses the following:

• Ability to utilize sound judgment and make independent decisions consistent with California Social Work Education Center, Field Education, and Department of Social Welfare policies, procedures, and practicies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the public child welfare system in the state of California, CalSWEC Curriculum competencies and familiarity with the current peer reviewed literature in public child welfare.
• Skill in supervising Field Consultants and Administrative Analyst in the service of meeting the needs of students, CalSWEC, and the Department.
• Ability to develop courses and teach required child welfare advanced direct practice course curricula and teach required child welfare advanced direct practice courses and general social work courses.
• Familiarity with Council on Social Work Education's Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.
• Skill in relating to students at a range of experience and maturity levels.
• Ability to utilize supervision from the Director of Field Education and Department Chair.
• Skilll in team collaboration for the Field Education and Field Education Management teams and other professionals in the field of Public Child Welfare.
• Ability to engage with faculty in developing child welfare related research.

SALARY: Determined by experience and qualifications.
