The School of Public Affairs is pleased to announce the recipients of David Bohnett Fellowships for the 2010-2011 academic year:

  • Daniel Caroselli, a former production coordinator and marketing specialist, is an urban planning student focused on design and development;
  • Susanna Curry, a joint social welfare/public policy student studying social policy advocacy; and
  • Karissa Yee, a public policy student studying education and urban policy.

The Los Angeles Mayor’s Fellowship Program was created to train the next generation of public servants in Los Angeles by bringing graduate-level policy research fellows onto the Mayor’s staff. Attracting and engaging the next generation of public servants is critical to the future of Los Angeles.  As David Bohnett Fellows, these students will receive valuable hands-on work experience as well as provide high-level research to the Mayor’s office.

The School of Public Affairs is grateful to the David Bohnett Foundation for funding full-year fellowships, which cover educational fees and summer stipends,  to hardworking graduate students for the benefit of the City of Los Angeles.   The fellowships are scheduled to begin after June 11, 2010 and will conclude at the end of the 2010-11 academic year.   Fellows will be matched to a senior member of the mayoral staff and their project-based work may include policy research, design and application of a program, and various writing assignments.

David Bohnett is  a philanthropist and technology entrepreneur who has spent his professional career in the technology and information services industry.    Most notably, he founded GeoCities, an Internet-based media and e-commerce company.  The mission of the David Bohnett Foundation is to improve society through activism.
