The UCLA Bicycle Coalition hosted Bike to School Day, Thursday, May 20,  to promote alternative transportation options.   The group planned the event to coincide with the city of Los Angeles’ Bike Week, in which the city promotes bicycling and alternative transportation options.   Urban Planning graduate students Alexis Lantz, Herbie Huff and Jeff Rabin were instrumental in planning the event and were featured in a recent Daily Bruin article about it.

UCLA Transportation and the UCLA Sustainable Resource Center (SRC) have released  “UCLA Bike-U-mentary".    The film which  features Herbie Huff, Urban Planning student and co founder of the UCLA Bicycle coalition,  is a short documentary drama  profiling real cyclists on their commute to UCLA.    The film was released to  coincide with Bike to Campus Week activities.     With bike commuting one of several “green” commute options available to UCLA students, staff and faculty, the film is in line with UCLA’s culture of sustainable practices across the campus community.   Presently, about 1,900 Bruins commute via bicycle to UCLA each day.
