THE COMMUNITY SCHOLARS PROGRAM
By bringing together labor and community leaders with urban planning students to study issues in depth, the program provides scholars with a forum in which to develop and further skills required to influence policy.
Community Scholars receive the same access to faculty, library services, and other academic resources and privileges granted to full–time students. In addition, scholars may enroll in other courses within the Department of Urban Planning and, by special arrangement, within the other departments of the School of Public Affairs.
This year, the Community Scholars Program will be conducted as an integral part of two graduate Urban Planning courses in the Winter and Spring of 2005.
C237C – Southern California Regional Economy
(Winter Quarter – Begins Tuesday, January 11 – ends March 15)
UP237B – Urban and Regional Economic Development
(Spring Quarter – Begins Tuesday, April 8 – ends June 7)
Classes will meet every Tuesday evening from 5:30–8:30 P.M. Scholars may meet from time to time outside the Tuesday class based on everyone’s availability.
