
Public Affairs Minor Requirements
The Public Affairs Minor requires the completion of seven (four unit)
classes:
I.) Introduction to Public Policy (1 course): Public Policy 10A, Introduction to Public Policy
II.) Applied Policy Analysis Requirement (1 course): Choose one course from the following list:
PUB PLC 10B: California Policy Issues
HNRS 82: Community and Labor Development from the Ground Up
PUB PLC C101: Drug Abuse Control Policy
PUB PLC 102: Rational Policies, Irrational People
PUB PLC 112: Controversies in Education Policy
PUB PLC C115: Environmental and Resource Economics and Policy
PUB PLC M116: Nuclear Weapons: Critical Decisions
PUB PLC C119: Crime Control Policy
PUB PLC C125: Rights and Wrongs of Affirmative Action
PUB PLC C142: Labor Markets and Public Policy
III.) Upper Division Elective Requirement (4 courses): Four upper division courses to be selected from Urban Planning, Public Policy, or Social Welfare. (There are no restrictions on the number of courses that can be taken from each department.)
Notes: Independent Study courses (197/199’s) do not count toward the minor.
The course used for the Applied Policy Analysis Requirement cannot also count as an
elective.
Social Welfare 130A and 130B do not count toward the minor.
IV.) Capstone (1 course): Choose one of the following options:
OPTION 1: Public Policy 187, Research Seminar in Public Policy
OPTION 2: Political Science M191DC, CAPPP Internship in Washington D.C.
OPTION 3: Public Policy C117, Crisis Decision Making in U.S. Foreign Policy
OPTION 4: Civic Engagement 105SL, Clientbased Program Evaluation
