Nancy Williams, a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Social Welfare, has been named to the student section of the publication, Child Maltreatment (Journal), Editorial Board.
The student section provides students with the opportunity to gain experience in the scientific peer review and publication process. Williams is one of six students selected to serve a two-year term and will work under the guidance of Bridget Freisthler, Associate Professor, Department of Social Welfare, Lewis Center Faculty Fellow, Faculty Affiliate California Center for Population Research. This year a record number of applications were submitted, according to the review board. Students (graduate, interns and postdoctoral fellows) were selected based on their work and dedication to their continued studies in the field of child abuse and neglect.
The publication’s student section of reviewers, which adjunct to the editorial board, provide anonymous manuscript reviews under the guidance of their faculty members and may participate in editorial board meetings and discussions.
“Child Maltreatment is the premiere journal in the field and this appointment represents a great accomplishment,” said Laura Abrams, Associate Professor of Social Welfare and Doctoral Program Chair.
