UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs board member Steve Soboroff is one of the people largely responsible for bringing the NASA Space Shuttle Endeavour to Los Angeles.
Soboroff, who was chosen as the senior advisor for the California Science Center in September 2011, was instrumental in having the Space Shuttle Endeavour exhibit at the California Science Center, located in Exposition Park.
The retired shuttle is due to land in Los Angeles on Friday and will be transferred over to the California Science Center in October.
“I like to help make good things happen in Los Angeles,” Soboroff said in a statement. “What Staples Center did for downtown is what the Endeavour promises to do for the Exposition Park area, downtown, and all of Southern California.”
Soboroff has been previously awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and was honored locally as Harvard Business School’s “Business Statesman of the Year.”
The spaceship completed its final mission in the summer of 2010 and flew 25 missions.
