Leaders from three of America's largest cities shared ideas for improving education at a panel moderated by UCLA Luskin Dean Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr. last week.
Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles, Rahm Emanuel of Chicago and Cory Booker of Newark, N.J., spoke at an "Education Mayors" summit hosted by the United Way of Greater Los Angeles. Though the mayors each approach education in their cities in different ways, the discussion uncovered some common ground—all three agreed that providing quality education is a vital public service for local government.
To see the three mayors and Dean Gilliam, the United Way posted a video of the entire event [6].
