Complete Streets for Southern California

 Madeline Brozen, Program Director of the UCLA Complete Streets Initiative, will present a lecture on how planning for bicycles and pedestrians is integrated to complete streets planning. This will include a brief history of complete streets, historic funding sources and how funding changed in the new federal transportation bill. The talk will include sections regarding how policy and street design manuals affect project implementation. Lastly, Ms. Brozen will discuss recent parklet implementation efforts in Los Angeles as a case study for understanding the complexities of implementing innovative street design.This event is part of the Fall 2012 Transportation Speakers Series, sponsored by the Lewis Center and the Institute of Transportation Studies. To see other recent and upcoming lectures in this series, click here.
