Okay, So You’re Queer: Facilitating Conversations About LGBT Issues in a Clinical Setting

DR. JUDY CHIASSON IS AN EDUCATOR, RESEARCHER, WRITER, AND COMMUNITY ACTIVIST. As part of Human Relations, Diversity and Equity in Los Angeles Unified School District, she is a voice of LGBTQ concerns for a district of 800,000 students. Dr. Chiasson is also a founder of Gays and Lesbians Initiating Dialogue for Equality (GLIDE), a speakers bureau that conducts over 250 workshops per year about sexual orientation and gender identity. She was honored by The Advocate magazine as a national leader in “advocating for educational access for all students.”DR. CHIASSON WAS AWARDED A PH.D. IN URBAN EDUCATION FROM CLAREMONT GRADUATE UNIVERSITY. Chiasson’s research measured the efficacy of educational interventions in reducing bias. Chiasson has many years experience as a classroom teacher, primarily working with students with exceptional needs. Chiasson was also a contributing author on the first disrict-adopted text book that included a chapter on sexual orientation and gender identity.Lunch will be provided; reservations are required.
