Performance Management in the Public Sector

May 10 @ 12:00 pm-1:00 pm

Performance Management in the Public Sector Monday, May 10, 2010 12:00-1:00pm Public Affairs Building, Room 3333 Performance Management in the public sector has become a hot topic now that President Obama has appointed Jeffrey Zients as the country’s first Chief Performance Officer. UCLA Public Policy alumnus Gregory Spotts currently serves a similar role for the City of Los Angeles. Greg’s presentation will provide a window into Mayor Villaraigosa’s Performance Management Unit, followed by a question and answer session on topics including performance management, issues pertaining to Los Angeles city policy, and what it’s like to work for the Mayor of a large city. Students who would like to familiarize themselves with LA municipal government before the event are encouraged to browse the Mayor’s Budget Summary for Fiscal Year 2010-11, which was compiled and edited by Greg and his team. The budget summary is available at this link: http://cao.lacity.org/bud2010-11/10-11Proposed_BudgetSummary.pdf
