Training Wheels for Freedom with Professor Mark Kleiman (Marschak Interdisciplinary Colloquium Series)

Dec 4 @ 3:00 pm-4:30 pm

Training Wheels for Freedom: Mass incarceration is a human-rights violation, a fiscal disaster, and a crime-control failure. A program of systematic “decompression,” in which prisoners are moved toward freedom continuously rather than in a single leap, might be the key to ending it while keeping crime rates trending down.Professor Mark Kleiman teaches courses on methods of policy analysis, imperfectly rational decision-making, and on drug abuse and crime control policy. He has worked and consulted for the U.S. Department of Justice, the City of Boston, and on Capitol Hill, and is author of several books as well as countless journal articles and press publications. He is also Chairman of BOTEC Analysis LLC. A think-tank which helps public agencies and private organizations find solutions in the public interest for the problems of drug policy and crime control. Mark KleimanProfessor of Public Policy, UCLA School of Public AffairsHosted by Brad Rowe, MPPManaging Director of BOTEC
