Year End Luncheon for Social Welfare Field Instructors

Jun 7 @ 9:00 am-12:00 pm

The Luncheon will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin School of Public Affairs Building, Room 2343.  Continental Breakfast and Registration will began at 9:00 a.m. The purpose of our Year-End Luncheon is to thank you for the time and effort that you devote to training our students.  We are acutely aware that your efforts are more challenging during this time of change and scarcity, and we appreciate this greatly.  Social Work programs could not survive without the tireless efforts of volunteer field instructors.Over the past year, we have been in the process of “reinventing” our curriculum, and indeed, our entire program.  Many new ideas have emerged, and the faculty have been developing new and updated course content to insure that our Department is providing our students with the best possible educational experience — one that will prepare them for practice in an ever changing human service landscape. Our agenda for this year includes a presentation by Michelle Johnson, Assistant Professor,  “Moving Theory to Practice in Field Settings.”  Dr. Johnson will be joined by Tracy Colunga, MSW, field instructor, City of Long Beach, Department of Health and Human Services, and Adjunct Instructor, Department of Social Welfare. The purpose of the presentation is to highlight an integration of classroom and field in collaboration between the University and a community agency.Following the presentation, you will have the opportunity to join with your colleagues to discuss and report models of integration and collaboration that may be mutually beneficial to your agency and the University.
