Closing the Environmental Justice Gap: A Workshp on Advancing Evaluation Methods – Pre-Workshop Briefing Paper

Program evaluation methods have improved the design and effectiveness of a wide range of public policies. Yet despite the adoption of new types of environmental justice (EJ) programs and policies, there are few applications of these evaluation methods. “Closing the Environmental Justice Gap: A Workshop on Advancing Evaluation Methods” brings together leaders from across the country to develop the sub-field of EJ program evaluation.

This document provides key background information, definitions, and frameworks to help participants arrive at the workshop on a similar page. This is important because the workshop intentionally brings together a diverse group of people from across the country to begin a new dialogue, in the hopes that this can be our starting point to advance evaluation of environmental justice policies and programs.
