The MD/MPP dual degree prepares physicians for leadership roles among policymakers at all levels of government and healthcare delivery systems—as elected officials, legislative aides, policy analysts, senior advisors, and heads of policy-oriented agencies. The program reflects an evolving recognition that the analytic skills necessary for effective policymaking are the purview of Public Policy programs.
The program structure takes advantage of complementarities between the MD and MPP programs: three years of medical education followed by the first year of MPP, with the second MPP year interleaved with the final year of medical school.
