Geraldine Fandiño is a Hildebrand Fellow, an activist and scholar, and a doctoral student in the Department of Social Welfare, where she is advised by Dr. Amy Ritterbusch. Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, her research takes up feminist participatory action research to accompany women, domestic and care workers, and street-connected communities confronting state violence in the global South, and to make visible the everyday resistance of those communities. Before UCLA, she completed dual master’s degrees at UT Austin, in Public Affairs and in Latin American Studies, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Universidad de los Andes. She has worked with the Brookings Institution, International IDEA, and the National Domestic Workers Alliance.
