The MURP/MA in Latin American Studies is a concurrent degree program that prepares students to apply urban planning knowledge to complex challenges across Latin America through interdisciplinary training in language, research methods, and regional expertise.
Latin America Focus: Designed for students applying urban planning knowledge to problem solving in Latin America.
Linguistic & Area Expertise: Students acquire linguistic, methodological, and area expertise through interdisciplinary coursework.
Three-Year Program: Total of 28 MA units and 72 MURP units fulfill the requirements of both programs.
Small Cohort: Approximately 1–2 students participate in this program each year.
Students must complete 25 courses (100 units), 18 courses for the MURP and 9 courses for the M.A. in Latin American Studies, in addition to required fieldwork and both the Urban Planning and Latin American Studies comprehensive examinations.
