The Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Environmental Professionals (LA AEP) invites current students to attend AEP’s CEQA Basics Workshop. The workshop will be held here at the School of Public Affairs room 2343 on Friday, October 22, 2010. This full-day workshop will provide a basic understanding of the fundamentals of the California Environmental Quality Act and the State Guidelines. The program features a curriculum developed specifically for people involved in the environmental review process, including consultants, regulators, applicants, or industry professionals, and will benefit those new to the field as well as practicing professionals. ~ This year’s curriculum includes: An understanding of the rules (Statute and Guidelines); How to determine the appropriate document (Exemptions, Negative Declarations, EIRs); Responsibilities of the consultant; Adequacy of analysis and mitigation; Legal challenges and defensibility; and Projects also subject to NEPA. Panelists, all seasoned CEQA professionals, are: Ms. Ruta Thomas., CEQA/NEPA Senior Group Manager at PBS&J; Ms. Susan Healy Keene, Director of Community Development for the City of Beverly Hills; and Mr. Brian Bergman, Esq., an associate at the law firm of Bergman & Dacey, Inc. This event has been approved for AICP/CM credit (six hours). Forms will be provided at the workshop. Admission is free to any student with school ID. Please note: Lunch will be provided to registered, paying guests, but will not be provided to students. You will be responsible for acquiring your own lunch.
