“Dreams Deferred: Transit Oriented Development And Social Exclusion On LA’s Rail System”, Lisa Schweitzer, Assistant Professor, School of Policy, Planning, and Development, University of Southern California, presented research findings on whether transit-oriented development has contributed to social inclusion for LA’s communities of color, particularly along the Blue Line light rail in south central Los Angeles. She discussed lessons that have emerged for urban design and TOD as a means toward both social inclusion and sustainability.
