The annual UCLA Luskin Career Fair is an opportunity for students and alumni to learn about current and upcoming job and internship opportunities. Organized by the Career Services department of Luskin, this year’s fair will be held on Thursday, April 7.
“The Luskin Career Fair is the culminating career event of the year where first and second year students and alumni can network with professionals from a variety of public, private, and non-profit organizations, learn about summer internships and full-time opportunities, and directly apply for positions of interest,” said Michelle Anderson, director of Career Services.
Over 80 employers have signed up to participate in this year’s fair held at the UCLA Ackerman Union Grand Ballroom. One of the employers that will be attending the fair is the California State Auditor’s Office.
When asked what type of candidate they are looking for, Recruiting and Training Manager Glen Fowler said: “At the California State Auditor’s Office, we look for candidates who are critical thinkers with solid communication and analytical skills. We want candidates who are comfortable working on challenging assignments in a team-based environment.”
Students and alumni can still register to attend the Career Fair. It is free to register.
As for how to be effective at the fair, Anderson offers these tips to students and alumni:
“Be ready to make a good impression by (1) dressing professionally, (2) doing research on attending organizations and positions of interest, (3) having ample copies of your resume, (4) preparing an introduction and questions, and (5) following up with a thank you note.”
