Meyer and Renee Luskin Lecture Series: “Audacity of Despair” – A Conversation with David Simon

Feb 5 @ 7:00 pm-9:00 pm

On February 5, 2016, David Simon will visit UCLA as a guest speaker in the Meyer and Renee Luskin Lecture Series. The UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs invites you to join us in a discussion about urban inequality, both in Los Angeles and around the world, and the current scholarship and movement to challenge this inequality.   David Simon is best known as the writer and executive producer of HBO’s “The Wire.” Simon’s most recent project is the HBO miniseries “Show Me a Hero,” which tells the story of a new mayor who finds himself thrust into racial controversy when a federal court orders him to integrate low-income housing units into the white neighborhoods of Yonkers. There will be a screening of “Show Me a Hero” preceding the lecture.   This lecture is presented in partnership with the new Institute on Inequality and Democracy at UCLA Luskin. The Institute on Inequality and Democracy advances radical democracy in an unequal world through research, critical thought, and alliances with social movements and racial justice activism.  Event information FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2016 UCLA James Bridges Theater Luskin Lecture Series: David Simon “The Audacity of Despair” Screening: “Show Me a Hero”      Register here.Presented in partnership with The Institute on Inequality and Democracy at UCLA Luskin.
