Senior Fellows Leadership Program Information Session

As the premier leadership training program of the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affair, the mission of the Senior Fellows Leadership Program is to engage prominent leaders as role models for graduate students from Public Policy, Social Welfare and Urban Planning.   Students who are selected to participate in the Senior Fellows Leadership Program are accepted into the Luskin Leadership initiative and will be assigned to a Senior Fellow as a mentor.  Throughout their academic program, UCLA Luskin students are prepared to accept leadership roles and effect change as practitioners, researchers, and policymakers in the public, private, and non-governmental sectors.  Senior Fellows enhance students’ leadership and professional development skills by engaging them in a mentor relationship with policy makers, business professionals, nonprofit executives, and community leaders.  To be assigned to a Senior Fellow, you must participate in the Luskin Leadership Initiative.    Program Goals for UCLA Luskin Graduate Students 1.      Provide a practical component of their academic experience by exposing them to premier leaders in the field 2.      Provide opportunities to engage with community leaders for the purpose of professional development, networking, and personal growth 3.      Strengthen ties between Senior Fellows and UCLA Luskin to broaden the School’s ability to bring timely, informative events to the University and greater community 4.      Provide opportunities for internships, job market advice, and career exploration in order to accelerate students’ career trajectory 5.      Connect the world of political and policy action to education for public interest Important DatesLeadership Program:  Application Deadline:  October 15th Your graduate student advisor will give you access to CCLE site to apply.  Provide the following with your resume:         1.    Last name, First; Address; City, State, ZIP Code; Preferred phone number; Preferred email address        2.    Department and area of concentration/focus        3.    A biographic profile (about 300 words), written in third person.        4.    One or two paragraphs on your leadership skills and current leadership roles.        5.    First, second and third choice with two to three paragraphs explaining why this person. Senior Fellows BreakfastThursday, October 24, 8-10 a.m., UCLA Faculty Center, Main Dining Hall Senior Fellows Mid-Year ReceptionThursday, February 6, 6-8p.m., UCLA Faculty Center, California Dining Room Questions?          VC Powe, Executive Director, External Programs        3250A Public Policy Building, 310-206-4776 or powe@luskin.ucla.edu
